At Amera Biotech, we are developing insect proteins & oils and natural fertilizers to create a more sustainable, climate-smart, and secure food system for the planet.
VISION
We believe that sustainable protein ingredients will drive innovations in global pet food markets for decades to come. By using state-of-the-art controlled environment agricultural production technologies we can grow insect proteins in a sustainable circular economy. Combined with ongoing research and development, a robust genetics program, BSF selective breeding techniques, and new product development, we can save the planet, one pet at a time. We are co-developing BSF projects in the US and Latin America with global food production and waste management companies.
TECHNOLOGIES
These amazing insects turn plantains, avocados, and other fruit and vegetable feedstock into proteins for pet food and pet products, which is our core business. We harvest the BSF in the pre-pupal stage, then process 95% of the larvae in ovens, with 5% of the genetically optimal BSF returning to augment the breeding colony. Our key performance indicators include optimizing insect genetics, and feedstock nutrition, maximizing our production efficiency, and scaling up to large-scale production.
